Correct Setup for 4K HDR Movies?

Only good-working setup is :

  1. Cheap s905x/w/d android box flashed with LibreElec
  2. Apple TV 4k with MrMC (no addons)

Be aware the Google Nougat OS on the Shield cannot autoswitch/convert between REC.709 and REC.2020 colorspaces based on the video you are watching - it simply does not support it.

You have to go into Android settings and switch manually if you want the correct colorspace output from the Shield when watching mixed SDR and HDR content.

Android Oreo may introduce auto color space switching but then Apps would also have to be coded to support such a feature.

Apple already have this auto colorspace switching/conversion (called dynamic range matching) implemented in tvOS 11.2 with their Apple TV 4K.
