Youtube For Android TV Can Now Select Video Quality

by __FULCRUM__

I just noticed this when watching youtube. I'm just about to turn the caption on by selecting the CC icon on [MORE OPTIONS] and noticed a new button called [Quality].

Upon pressing, you'll presented with video quality options from 144p to the highest according to the uploadee video for intance 4k.

P.S. I don't know how to add photo in a post so here's the link for the photo i've taken.

Awesome!! Thanks man. :)

Had to uninstall updates and then re-update it.

Mine has been simply defaulting to the highest bit-rate stream anyways, but this is still a welcomed change for those rare times I actually use the YT app.

Also, for future reference: you know you can take screenshots on ATV, right?

It was available until the new redesign and I'm so glad it's back. Sometimes I want to manually force a resolution and it was frustrating to not have control over it

Can you also change playback speed with this version? I'm still using the old not-web-version

andyytan

I'm just glad I uninstalled all updates to YouTube for Android TV and turned off auto update. Native app >>>>>>>> web wrapper

Great, thanks for the info !

GravityDead

I guess I can turn on my play store auto updates again :D

CombatTom

I'm assuming there's still no option for audio quality? Lack of 5.1 support is the primary thing holding me back.

Andrroid

Very nice. Thank you for sharing.

Blinky3eye

I can't enable this on the mibox YouTube is running version v2.02.08 with no updates available?

PaleFlyer

Thank God! I was digging for this last night, as one channel I watch is unwatchable on the damn TV.

PaleFlyer

Just updated via the "force" method on a Sony x830c smart TV. Definently a new app, but still no video settings.

xe_om

What version you got, OP?

200_7

HDR when?

etacarinae

This isn't available on nvidia shield even after uninstall and reinstallation. Fuck the web wrapper.

Supersilver-Haze

Has anyone seen the YouTube App on PS4 lately? I think it's the best one out there and wish they would bring it to the Nvidia Shield

SubElement

Not on mine on Shield TV :(

Dovlaa

this used to be a default option until they updated the app...glad it's back but there's still no 4k option on my 4k television...philips really dropped the ball on that one

So I did a Uninstall Updates and then Update on my ShieldTV. Did not get the Quality setting but the Youtube UI changed to a completely new layout. Kind of liked this :D
