Google should rework the Play Store on TV (for all)

by DessIntress
  1. There are hundreds of supported apps available via search, while they advertise in the whole store overview only the same apps for months. Only one category is updated with things like christmas, new year or olympic apps.

  2. Media apps... There are 20 displayed but at least 5 are bible or jesus apps. Why are there no other roman apps?! Serious...Jesus isnt media its Religion and not everyone believes in bad romans... and 1 of 20 should be enough because its anyway a really limited sortiment.

  3. Some displayed apps are still the mobile version with its mobile screenshots instead of TV screenshots.

  4. Some apps not even start on a 2017 model.

Edit: Of course there are more points / examples. Feel free to post your points.

Google should do a lot of things

My problem is the same as your first problem there, they literally advertise the same apps for months on the front page of the Play Store. Makes app discovery a total pain.

And youtube...

I can't believe that they don't advertise YouTube TV on the front page of the play store.

Thanks for reminding us.

They need to add a similar system for Apps and their Google Movies (whatever it’s called) app. When I’m browsing movies and watching their trailer it’d be nice if I could scroll down to other suggestions similar to that movie. Same for apps. But I’m bias. I think Google is terrible at UI’s. I envy the beauty of the Apple TV UI every time I see it.

I think there should be some sort of push from us users to developers whose apps do work on Android TV but aren't listed to see if they will update them to go in the TV play store.

Firefox for Fire TV sticks is a great example.

We've got a new media app category. It's much better and it's without religion so far i can see. (Daily reports....)

There are two Jesus apps in the US Play Store on Android TV.

Not that it matters in any way, but if you’re going to make it a point at least be honest.
