Xiaomi could give me a shitty Mi Box with Oreo and I still wouldn't believe them. That thing has gotten 0 support since day one. Anyone who is believing those fucks deserves to be burnt.
They don't have much time, but will be interesting to see if they skip Nougat completely and push Oreo. Has to be done in March because of past promises and customer patience.
If that's the current Mi Box, than it looks to be just about done (stupid business move that they wouldn't communicate about the skipping). If it is a new box, they will need to close shop in the US because of Mi Box 3 lack of support.
Or may be they are preparing their mi tv 4 (not the box but the tv itself) for Google tv certification, though highly unlikely as they patch wall os for TVs but it's Xiaomi we are talking about!!! It could be a possibility.

I don't like Oreo on Android TV. It wasn't great on the Nexus Player.
I'd much rather be "stuck with" Marshmallow.
That they have a plan or desire to release an Oreo update means very little to me. The original promotional materials for the Mi Box released in September 2016 refer to features that will be available with a planned update to Android 7.x
With how slowly the Nougat beta progressed, it seems likely they have a very small team working on Mi Box updates. If nvidia can't develop a satisfactory version of Oreo right now then what are the odds that xiaomi's android tv team will.
I imagine it will be in beta for months on end and then probably get abandoned for good.

The packaging is the same of the current miBox, and in the paper next it it's written that it had built in Google Assistant. I hope they will update our boxes đ

HĂ HĂ HĂ ! This is a fucking joke! Either buy a shield or an Apple TV and youâre good to go. Mi box was nice at the beginning, but now, itâs just a pain in the ass/huge frustration.
Would be funny if it got Oreo before the Shield does.
