Just got my new Nvidia shield pro off of amazon, but when I plug it into the all nothing is happening, it won't turn on. Is thing defective from the factory or am I just as idiot?

What kind of HDMI cable are you using? I don't know if it comes with the Pro version, it didn't with my regular Shield TV 2017 and one of my cables is unable to display 4K 60Hz 4:2:0 10 bit Rec2020 and the same thing you're describing happens. The shield turns on for a few seconds, I can see the android logo and the TV is showing 1080p resolution. As soon as it tries to switch to 4K i get a black screen saying no signal.
I got it to turn on, BUT now the nvidia logo comes on the tv screen for about 5 seconds and then screen will go black, then the tv says there is no hdmi signal? I'm losing faith pretty quickly here...
