Nexbox A95X vs Mi Box?

by Knighthonor

I was just at Walmart and bought a Mi Box for IPTV service. Wanted a Android box but that's all the store had so I got it. I did a few Google searches after hearing about something called a Nextbox and discovered the Nexbox A95X. It seem cheaper than the Mi Box as well on Walmart online store. I am curious which system is better. I am thinking about taking it back if the other is better, but I brought it in a different city though.

I bought the A95X before I learned what Android TV was and it was a POS. Everyone raved about it but I didn't know it used regular Android for touchscreens and only supported 480p Netflix. Picture was also very dark, due to some bug that completely messed up the gamma and I had to run a specific video manually every time to fix it. It's only worth it if you install LE on it and use it as a Kodi box only. And still, the remote is pretty crappy too. I would pass personally.

I wouldn't switch. It's basically the same but running a full version of Android that you'll find frustrating to use with a remote.

That and you'll run into a lot of DRM issues due to Widevine Level (enables Netflix 1080p etc).

If you're thinking of getting one, look at the M8S Pro+ (the + is important you DON'T want the PRO), M8s Pro W or the M8s Pro L. These contain the necessary Widevine Level of 1 so you'll run into fewer DRM issues.

Android TV is the proper platform. You bought the right device. Don't look at those janky Android boxes as being an upgrade. They're pieces of junk and run a touchscreen OS. Your TV is not a touchscreen. Hardware specs don't mean shit if it doesn't have the right software.
