Is it telling that this is not "Google TV"?

Google has spent the last year or so rebranded a lot of it's core products away from using the Android name in to Google.

Android Pay is now Google Pay Android Assistant is now Google Assistant

Seems to me that the three big projects that are still Android * are the ones that seem to also have the least amount of support from the big G.

Android TV Android Auto Android Wear

Maybe nothing in it?

OS: Android, Android TV, Android Auto, Android Wear, Android Things. Services: Google Pay, Google Calendar, Google Keep, Google Assistant, Google Play etc. So from this point of view Android Pay branding was nonsense.

Things that don't run Android are being rebranded. Google TV failed many years ago. You are reading too much into things.

it makes more sense for youtube tv to be called google tv than for android tv

Probably has to do with marketing their Google Pixel brand phones. GOOGLE pay and GOOGLE assistant on the GOOGLE pixel. I doubt they will rebrand AndroidTV but when they decide to start pushing their TV platform then you could very well see a Google brand box, but it would still run AndroidTV.

Android Assistant is 3rd party cache cleaning app. Google Assistant was always Google Assistant. Android Pay was made by splitting Google Wallet, now they reconnecting the service and naming it Google Pay because it won't be exclusive to Android OS anymore.

Android TV is name of the OS so they won't call it Google TV, which was the name of a previous TV OS made by Google.

Android is the OS product line. Google is the services product line, Pixel is the hardware product line (I have a feeling Nest is headed for a rebranding).
