Transferring Files from PC to Android TV

by kjames05

I have a Sony Android TV that I would like to be able to transfer movies and pictures to from my PC. The PC and TV are on the same network and I have a 64gb USB drive installed in the back of the TV.

Is this possible? And, if so, how do I accomplish this?

Share the folder which is in your PC to the network.

Then in tv visit the the folder using file explorer.

If you have VLC then check the local network category

Share a folder from your pc, as above comment says.

Could also unplug drive and load it on the PC that way.

ES file manager has an FTP server you can use, but depending on the version of Android, it probably won't let you write to the drive.

And finally, you could use Universal Media Server to share via UPnP.

The most easy way i found is using Mobisystem File manager. Just install that on tv, open -> Pc file transfer -> Start. Input the address transfer in browser of your PC or another phone, tablet etc. Upload what do you want.

Clean ui, easy to use with different devices without install any app, just using browser.

There's a few ways to access the files directly over a network rather than copy them over, but I find the nicest way to playback videos and images is via Plex. It's free and gives you a slick interface.

Share the folder with the movies and pictures and install kodi on the TV. Then add the folders as media source
