I have the XD7505, which I think is the EU version. I've had Nougat for quite some time and it's served me well so far.
It's sometimes laggy, especially switching sources but you can get real, tangible benefits by tweaking things behind the scenes in Android.
Enable Developer Options (go into Settings>About and select "Build Number" seven times). Once done, go back a menu level and enter the Developer Options menu. Switch off all animations, enable the GPU and set your background processes to 3 or more.
I would also advise disabling Sony Shelf and switching off notifications for other select services, including Samba.
That being said, I wouldn't move to a non android TV now. Its just too convenient having Kodi a remote button press away and having the same basic operations as my phone.
