Am I the only one here facing serious issues with YouTube on my Mi Box 3 (international version) ?
It's been 3 months now and I can't play any videos from this app. What a shame. When I try to watch a video, it loads with a black screen and then I can't do anything, I have to reboot my box because it's not responsive anymore...
EDIT : i'm talking about YouTube app for Android TV, not YouTube TV for Android TV.

Youtube app or Youtube TV? They are two different things.
All these issues are making me consider buying a shield instead. The Mi box on paper looks brilliant but it has software issues left right and centre 😕
I have the exact same problems. I have been so stupid to upgrade to Nougat beta. Guess you have as well? Rolling back the YouTube app didn't help. Funny is that streaming from phone to YouTube app on this mox does work as intended. Weird shit right?
Same on mine. Nougat beta as well. Bought a second Shield and gave Mi Box to my kid who doesn't use Youtube.
My YouTube is just fine on my mibox with nougat beta, seems to me that you installed the wrong beta
try upgrading/downgrading app(helped me with playing issues)
It's probably important to get in the habit of calling the model MDZ-16-AB the Mi Box or the Mi Box International, because it is the one and only globally issued Mi Box and is the one and only Mi Box with Android TV OS.
Personally I'm having no problems with YouTube on build 1028. The YouTube app was recently updated, so check if that helps you, and if not you can always try a couple of factory resets to clear your software and firmware up a bit.
There are several alternative Youtube apps available on Aptoid and other sources. I would try one of those and see if they work better for you. You are not restricted to the Youtube app that ships with the Mi Box.
I know this issue quite well. Unfortunately there is no fix via software. I tried everything. The only solution, unfortunately, is to exchange it for another box. The good news is that most mi boxes are fine, so exchanging has a high chance of fixing the issue
I have the same issue on YouTube app. I play the video I want then black screen if I tap center button on my remote I can see the play and pause but nothing? Any solution. I already cleared cached and data and still nothing
I have not faced any issues with my mi box 3 , it works perfectly without any lag or issues
