Netflix consistently has poor audio quality - AndroidTV - Dolby 5.1

Anyone else have poor 5.1 audio quality on Netflix? The audio is consistently terrible for me unless I switch to STEREO.

nVidia Shield TV, Gen1, Latest update. Netflix App for AndoridTV from Play Store, Latest version.

Terrible voice sibilance on Netflix app. Other apps on the AndoridTV are fine (Hulu, Plex, Kodi, Homerun). Switch to Netflix on the PS4 and it's fine.

Edit: As u/Kartana described below, it's a known issue caused by a Dolby Digital Plus specification change around 2013. I have opened a support ticket requesting a firmware update for my Pioneer SC-37, but I won't hold my breath. Also now that I know what I'm looking for, found some additional links;

We are sorry for the issue you are having. Do you have any other audio issues when playing a source in a different audio format. There is no firmware out for this receiver due to the age of this receiver? How long is the HDMI cable from the receiver to the TV? Do you have your source set to PCM or bit stream when playing your audio.

Thought-- I have the same problem with Netflix on my Yahama SRT-1000 but Vudu uses Dolby Digital Plus too, why doesn't it happen to the Vudu service when using Shield too?

I've been going nuts with this and have the same issue, but different hardware. I could only assume its crappy netflix.

Netflix, hulu and amazon prime create this same issue for me.

LG OLED B6P. Sony DH770 AVR, KEF front speakers running a 7.2 surround system.

Occurs over TV built in apps, chromecast ultra and playstation 4

Ive tried different TVs, AVRS as well as different speakers, I still get the same issue. When I use my crappy insignia TV in a different room, it isn't as pronounced but its a much much weaker speaker. The only common denominator is the actual streaming services. As far as OTA antenna, the sound is clear.
