Anyone buy a mibox 4 or 4c? wondering how to install a pure Android TV OS on it... not a huge fan of the XIAOMI software on it, mostly because it's in Chinese and I have no clue what half of it says.

Maybe just buy the model that comes with it pre-installed?
Save yourself a considerable amount of time, grief and, ultimately frustration and avoid these supposedly new and improved boxes.
No amount of hacking, finagling or praying will allow you to imbue these impersonators to run official AndroidTV.
The Xiaomi box you want is already widely available at $US69. Model MDZ-16-AB.
You bought the wrong one. It is for the Chinese market and without AndroidTV. That model isn't for the international market.
