I got my Mi Box, my first Android TV box just 2 days ago. Here are my problems:
-
Unable to play 1080p mkv file via USB Hard Drive smoothly. Video stutter and audio out of sync all the time (95% of the time, especially when there are lots of changes in frame / movements). Tried using Kodi, VLC, and MX Player. Also tried factory reset, wipe data, update to latest system, multiple settings both in display, developer option, and in-app settings.
-
Casting 720p or 1080p mkv files also has both video and audio stutter via Chrome Casting. Tried using VLC, Chrome and a Chrome Extension. My WiFi is 10m away and has 300Mbps max bandwidth.
Are there anyone who got this problem as well? It seems ridiculous that a product advertised to be able to handle 4K got these problems. Or am I getting a defect product?
Edit: Casting using VLC seems to have better quality than playing directly from the back USB port. Is the USB port defect? Even 2.0 USB should have 480 Mbps bandwidth and should be sufficient to play 1080p.
Edit2: Found out that the stutter problem came when playing video with FLAC audio.
Welcome to MiBox ownership. The potential issue you're having with chromecasting, if your 1080p videos are uncompressed (straight Blu-Ray rips) then your WiFi very well could be a bottleneck. That 300mbps rating on your router is the very best possible rating and 99% of the time you will never see anything close to that.
