march 22 2018 we are here. i don't regret my purchase at all and i'm not even sure the update to 7 or even 8 will really change anything other than the fact they said i would get something and i still haven't gotten it. my only complaint about the mibox is storage related. i'd like to be able to install more apps on it without juggling what's on it. (although a good bit of the apps on it i barely use).
The hardware is good and I never had a problem with the Mi Box.
That said, I don't trust Xiaomi and if Google releases a properly priced box, I'd switch when needed. If somehow hell freezes over and Kodi goes on to Apple, I'd buy that in a second. I mean Google also barely supports AndroidTV.
