Enigma2 > Android TV

by OiledUpBooty

Looking to move my IPTV service to Android TV in the hope of seeing some performance improvements over my current Enigma2 box (Mut@nt HD2400).

The Nvidia Shield appears to still be the device of choice, so likely that will be the box I'll go for, along with my Logitech Harmony hub/remote.

  1. I use Xtream Editor to manage my channel lists and generate EPG info, so can I just plug this into Live Channels to browse using a populated EPG?
  2. Does Live Channels allow me to record channels and playback from USB?
  3. Don't really like the look of the available 3rd party apps, so I'd prefer a 'stock' solution; I like the look of the Live Channels EPG. My solution needs to be wife-friendly, so she can just 'press red to record' - 'press PVR' to browse recordings (using Logitech Harmony).

Does this all sound like something I can achieve?

Live Channels doesn’t support IPTV natively. There is an app called TVirl that integrates your streams with Live Channels but EPG has to be refreshed manually every few days and it takes a minute

Edit: [TVirl] also does not support recording

Edit: clarification

Check Streaming DVR plugin for Live Channels and IPTV. It is still in beta though so it's far from being wife friendly. The non-DVR version works good though it's not free if you want more than 10 channels. Also you need to do some work on the m3u list. But it's better than tvirl mostly because it auto updates the EPG in live channels, with tvirl you have to do it manually.

If you want IPTV within the native Live Channels on AndroidTV you have 2 options TVIRL or Streamin DVR.

TVIRL is a little bit basic. It doesnt support auto updating of the EPG nor does it support recordings. But its free and super stable.

The other option is Streamin DVR. I believe you need to join a Google+ group to access the app and it supports auto updating of the EPG and recordings but its not free but its super cheap (like £3 a year) the only issue with time with it is it can be quite unstable atm (it is beta software afterall).

(They're both 3rd party apps but intergrate with the native Live Channels app)
