Android tv box wifi range?

by danijel00

Hello. I was wondering is there a good android tv box that has range at about 50feet(maybe few feet more) from the router? I'm connected to the internet through my neighbour with usb wireless adapter, and I'm getting a solid signal at around that range.

But, does the tv boxes have that kind of wifi possibility? For example, I was looking at MINIX NEO U9-H android box and it's says that it's having a 802.11ac 2x2MIMO Dual-Band Wi-fi with antenna. Since I really don't understand much all of this, just how good(or bad) is this kind of wifi comparing to my wireless adapter(tp link wn822n)?

I don't know about an Android box (different from AndroidTV).

For anything wifi, much has to do with signal strength and bandwith. There are really only 2 known AndroidTV boxes, Mi Box 3 (international version) and Shield. You would need to see those antenna specs as well as the aforementioned router specs (or bridges) but 50+ feet probably won't be the greatest signal for many devices.

This has a dual band WIFI reciever, cant say much about the distance to performance as the occlusions from room to room can determine the cause of signal degradation. overall I am streaming 4k videos wirelessly on this device, top notch. https://youtu.be/VNXrch9VmLE

Its hard to gauge how it will perform because of the wide range of variables that determine wifi throughput. You should be good to go though.

Get the Nvidia Shield TV and a recent AC rated ASUS router. They have compatible chipsets that were designed to work together. I believe it's called TurboQAM

My Mi Box doesn't have a great antenna, I had to move the router closer to it and avoid obstructing the signal.

You're better off getting a WiFi repeater that is placed where you're neighbors signal is optimal. Hopefully you can connect on a 5Ghz band vs 2.4Ghz. See /r/HomeNetworking.
