None of those devices are actually android tv, and are therefore not relevant to this sub.
Mi box it is. I would suggest you to wait for global version of mi box 4 ( no big difference though)
It costs a bit more than unbranded boxes but worth it

Nah. We don't recommend Android boxes. This sub is dedicated to Google's official platform for the living room. They created the Android TV operating system because a touchscreen OS like Android is not suited for HDTVs. There are two readily available devices that run Android TV: $69 Mi Box and $180+ Shield TV.
Mi box is what I use. Like $35
The real question is do you intend to keep these friends as friends and are you prepared to charge enough to provide support with all the inevitable problems that will soon arise?
Answer those questions before proceeding.

There are many Android boxes, but those use the OS made for phones. You are looking for AndroidTV. The best cheapest one is Mi Box 3 international version. If it isn't international version than it doesn't have AndroidTV and is in Chinese.
It gets confusing because of names. Ultimately you or looking for AndroidTV OS and Mi Box 3 International version (I forget the model number). Walmart.com and Walmart stores sell them. You can find the model number there, if needed.
