There is actually no need to shut down completely. I'm a bit old school and it took me sometime to break the thought of nothing should be in sleep or standby for weeks or months on end without a complete shutdown (to "cool down") at least once a week.

These devices, TVs, most non-battery devices are meant to go on standby and "power" is really standby. If you go away for a while and rather not have the devices getting small amount of power, I would suggest getting a good surge protector and turning that off. Or unplug each device.

There is literally no option to shutdown MiBox, when I press the "power button" it immediately goes to sleep, and if I keep pushing the button it only shows reboot option, anyone knows how to shutdown?

Shield does the same. It is necessary for features like Chromecast to work properly, at least that is what a Nvidia Developer said. Just google it and you'll find the thread.

"It is a FEATURE, not a BUG"!!!!

Generally, with any piece of electronics, one of the most stressful events is the power surge that occurs with cycling power. Standby is less damaging versus subjecting the device to power surges.

So let me get this straight you guys, so now this is a feature, if only I knew that whenever i finished from my Windows PC I should've pulled its power plugs, or put it to sleep continuously? Its called a SOCKET, you shutdown the device they switch-off the socket. Xiaomi should have gave us the option to choose this simple decision "sleep, reboot, shutdown" but they removed it for no reason, without even allowing us to disable their garbage updates. In their newest update, Youtube and Google is constantly crashing and causing the device to hangup. But I guess that crashing might be considered a new feature to some of you also.
