TV Everywhere Related Apps

by brianTC

Hi,

I am thinking about getting the Nvidia Shield... I use a lot of TV Everywhere related apps that don't appear in the list of apps available at https://play.google.com/store/apps/collection/promotion_3000e26_androidtv_apps_all?hl=en

I understand that I should be able to sideload the regular Android apps, but does anyone know how well they might run (such as USA Network, Fox Now, Watch TBS, Watch TNT, etc.)?

Thanks.

fox, tnt, and tbs are for sure on the play store for android tv. that collection you linked is old and never updated. usa network might be but i didn't search.

Regular Android apps can be very difficult to use on Android TV after sideloading. The screen dimensions are off. If you buy a combo mini-keyboard/mouse, sometimes you can substitute for the lack of touchscreen and on-screen keyboard. But I've seen problems like video just not playing at all, or screen elements that are unusable.

I know there's a bunch on there. NBC, ABC, Fox Now, TBS, TNT, ESPN, FX Now, Fox Sports Go...

Quite a few are missing still, but developers still add and you're them pretty regularly. Performance is solid.

The other option is to look for the Fire TV apps. Most work on the Shield just fine, but need the Amazon App store side loaded. This fills in some of the gaps. Biggest one for me is the NBC Sport App.

Also be aware if you're a Comcast customer they often deny access through Android TV

Thanks for the replies. Those are all working and I was able to sideload a few more. Unfortunately the USA app crashes on load so that is a no go :(
