How stable is Android TV on Raspberry Pi at the moment?

by Sternrets

I found a multitude of tutorials on how to install AndroidTV to your PI, and most of them stated that it is not very stable and apps like YouTube and Netflix don’t really work. The only thing I need is for it to have support for YouTube and Netflix. Does it? and without crashes?

Thanks.

Bad idea.. Don't even bother with it. Just get a official Android TV box or be ready to spend your time deep inside a rabbit hole.

Netflix DRM doesn't work on anything that has not been officially certified.

Don't beat your head against the wall. That geektilithertz attempt was the most ambitious of the projects and over the course of 18 months there has been no progress toward resolving these major issues.

Well, yes, but...

You might have a better experience buying an Android box.

it has 1gb ram...on par with, what, 8 year old phones running gingerbread? just flat out not enough ram for modern android, much less atv

there are other boards that are better suited such as the rock64

raspi is overpriced garbage just like most of the other stuff peddled in here
