I've added external HDD to MiBox (international - latest official firmware) - and I've got one problem - at night i hear HDD spinning on/off every ~30 seconds (even when MiBox is in standby mode/switched off).
Is there any way to change this ? (so external HDD "spins" only when MiBox is "on")
Yeah as you commented this is likely a limitation due to some expected usecase. If you need a hdd connected with say movies and whatnot, maybe a consideration to look into making or buying a NAS. That way you can at least move it elsewhere and it might have better power savings opportunities. Good luck
I started disconnecting mine at night and a couple weeks later I had to format it because the data corrupted. You'd be better off setting up a Plex server of some sort or use usb sticks for the mibox
The Mibox never turns off. It's suspended when you press the power button. So the hdd is always on. I have yo unplug the Mibox.
