That's way too ugly to be sold as Google hardware. 7 or 8 years ago Google would have been proud to put their logo on that and sell it, like they did the original Chromecast.
Today? No way. Google cares about design these days and that looks way too much like cheap China junk to be a Google product.

One thing that intrigues me is that this might mean the cast version in Android TV will now match the Cast version of a regular Chromecast. I am not sure if this was the case already but I know I was unable to cast Netflix to Android TV through Google Home in the past because of the mismatch.

Sounds like its mimicking the recent FireTV device. Shame it doesn't have a MicroSD or USB for storage.
It has nothing from the Google design, so I don't think this will go as Google device. But in the end (whoever is releasing) it might be a good move to release a basic dongle for 30USD. It could be a good alternative for Chromecast and all cheap chinese Android tablet boxes.

I feel like this isn't truly a google device and is just someone using google trademarks without permission. Especially due to the cheap components used. Its a shitty chinese box in a dongle/stick form-factor. Also, this only has Single-Band wifi.
Also: The remote has old buttons. Overflow button is not used anymore, the back and home buttons are kit-kat era.
