Can't add apps to homescreen

by bridgehypocrite

Edit: Actually rebooting the TV and not just turning it off and on did the trick. Hold down the power button on the remote for about 5 seconds then start it back up.

Greetings,

I'm hoping someone can help me out with my new Sony TV.

I want to get rid of the "Featured Apps" bar, but keep some of the apps I've downloaded. I go into settings and "force close"/"hide notifications" on the Sony Shelf, so no issues there. Problem is when I go back to the home screen, the bar is gone and the apps are gone with it.

I see the installed apps in the Google Play Store, but there is no way to add them to the My Apps bar.

Any solutions to this, or is it just a forcing function to keep the Sony Shelf?

Don't have a Sony so probably the experience is different, but on my Philips the featured apps is just shit on the Phlips store. I disabled it and have only my actually installed apps under the recommendations bar. Maybe you disabled too much stuff?

I don't have a Sony TV or Google TV, but:

Try disabling Sony Select, if available.

Try rebooting TV (try holding power button to reboot. If not, go through settings to restart). Sometimes it requires a reboot (simply hitting power puts it on standby) to put installed apps icons in normal spot. Scroll all the way over to find the app.
