Shield - No Sound Until Restart

Every few days I am having an issue with my Shield. It will turn on and everything appears to be working correctly. I am getting no sound, however. I have to either restart the shield through the settings menu, or just pull the plug. Does anyone have any ideas as to what may be causing this?

It's a 2017 16GB Shield model that I just purchased a couple of weeks ago.

Same here, happned last night as a matter of fact. Was watching something, paused it, went to resume and all sound was gone. Restart and its good again. Sheild->HDMI->TV.

I fixed my issue by unplugging my PS4 controller which I was charging.

I’ve had the same issue with the 500gb "Pro" model, but can't consistently reproduce it. Only restarting the ShieldTV fixes it.

I'm having a similar issue. The volume for the shield seems to go haywire sometimes.it will just max itself out or go all the way down, or sometimes just a few notches in either direction... There's no reason for this to be happening as the remote is sitting on the table next to me undisturbed. I just got mine a week ago (2017/16g as well)

I've been having that issue except I only need to turn my TV off. Seems that the Shield is having issues with realizing it has an audio sink connected lately.

Direct to TV or is it connected to a receiver?

This happens to me. I go to the Netflix app built into my tv play something and switch back to shield. Fixes it without restart.
