Which app can access Samba network drive? (not LAN)

by superrufus

I am looking for a media center/app which can access a samba drive from a network? I have a my own root server and sometimes upload family videos there.

I want my family to open their Android TV and see all the videos I uploaded and then play it.

As I understand, you have to know the MRL within VLC. I am looking for a solution where I can give access to a certain network drive which is not in the local network.

You can also use kodi for samba access.

evalalave

Archos Video Player. I'm using it to stream videos from my NAS to Mi Box.

OssotSromo

Kodi all the way.

Use Plex app. You can assign anything if you run Plex server on a host that can see the drive, or the drive is connected to. The use Plex app.

I don't understand the network drive that's not on the local network part.

You can set up bi directional port forward from your\familly router to network drive. So samba will appear as local connection.

Check Port Forwarding to in your router settings.

P.S. I never try to do so with smb

isn't (private) YouTube easier?
