by willmck91

Hey Team I hope all is well

I set my olds up with a android tv box i got from china a few years ago when I moved out and now its time for an upgrade and they also have fiber now :).

I set them up with a plex server before I left and they watch movies off that and they use Netflix. there tv was a good LG tv at the time 4 years ago or so but its only 1080P thus they dont need 4k.

what tv box / chrome cast etc do you think they will need ? :)

Well seeing as this sub is about devices that run the Android TV operating system, then you only have two options: a $59 Mi Box or a $180+ NVIDIA Shield TV.

I love my mibox.

Chromecast (2nd gen) would be the cheapest solution. Nvidia Shield TV would be the best solution if money is no object.

I wanted a “cheap solution” and was between roku express and the more expensive mi box, I went to the mi box 2018 because I’ve read that roku is in his last breath and his apps are not up to date, with the mi box you’ll have all the updates from google, you can install everything that exists and it will be fully supported (someone correct me if I’m wrong). I still paid 77€ on amazon to avoid customs.

But, if I wanted to invest, Nvidia shield would be a no brainer
