This is what the future holds for Android TV

While I do think this is a terrible article, I could definitely see them rebranding Android TV to something with the word "Chrome" in it. Market the Chromecast as a simple device to get content from your phone to the TV, and these devices as more powerful media boxes with remotes that also have Chromecast built in. It's embarrassing how many apps are on Amazon's fire TV boxes and not on Android TV despite being nearly the same operating system. Google needs a marketing push to get these devices into the living room so developers care again, and I think leveraging the Chrome name is the best way to do that

This is what the Android TV future holds, it's mainly cheap Android TV - Operator Tier OEM or Pay TV streaming devices:

There are notable exceptions like the successful launch this month of the new Vodafone TV - Android TV OS device with a built in TV tuner recently.

However vs the competition such as Apple & Amazon - developer App support for Android TV is lagging badly behind....

Which is exactly what is delaying the Android TV OS - Oreo launch !

I'm confused by this article. There's nothing to write about because there's nothing to write about. Google has pretty much left the platform to die. My Android TV (a Sony) is three years old and hasn't seen any meaningful updates beyond security patches. My dashboard is full of crap apps that I've never opened (Hallmark, Crackle, etc). That wouldn't be so bad except you can't uninstall or hide them. Also, the tv crashes sometimes when I change the volume while watching YouTube. That's Android TV in 2018. Whenever someone asks whether or not they should buy an Android TV, my answer normally starts with a minute's worth of spit takes and laughing.
