Can Someone Post Specific Channel Master Stream+ Technical Specs?

by GNex5

I've looked at the spec sheet for this device and it doesn't mention which SoC is used but only that it's a "quad core ARM processor." Would any owners of this Android TV device be able to install AIDA64 from Google Play and provide more specific details such as those from the system, CPU & Android menus of that app? If it's too much to type, screenshots are also fine. CPU-Z also provides technical specs but that app requires sideloading on Android TV. I've seen people commenting about the lack of Netflix support but for that to change, the hardware needs to support Google Widevine L1 DRM for high definition playback. An app called DRM Info can be installed to determine if it supports that or not.

This device avails every conceivable function to work with Netflix streams at HD. Only thing missing is the acquiescence of Netflix.

The exact same box, minus tuners, is sold in Europe and elsewhere and does have the blessing of Netflix.

Netflix is involved in an ego trip vs Channelmaster over Netflix certification. Netflix could approve this device tomorrow with zero changes to the hardware or software.

If you are really hung up on Netflix support, plead your case to Netflix. They are in control of this decision. Good luck with that:)

I posted a thread over at the AVS Forum to track the updates and official specs / information on the device.

The device now has support for using USB hard drives for DVR storage, officially in beta as of last week's update. It has 14 days of guide data provided by Channel Master, and if you search for a program and record it you can schedule the recordings (and see that they are scheduled for that 14 day period. As it is, though, Live Channels only shows 2 days of the free guide data. They have promised to work on showing all 14 days (Live Channels has confirmed the data is on the device).

They fixed a bug that corrupted recordings after 48 hours. You can record a series using Season::Episode numbers or all instances of a show without Season::Episode numbers, and limit the recording to specific channels.

Missing from DVR functions that most will miss is "chase playing". Once you start recording a program you can't wait 20 minutes and start playing it from the beginning while it finishes recording. You can watch a recorded program while two are recording, or watch the channel being recorded as it is being recorded. But "chase play" is what so many of us love about DVRs. For me, this is the last "missing feature" of the DVR functions.

Streaming works well for Sling TV, PS Vue, YTTV and ESPN+ and of course all the Android TV apps like Pluto, Haystack and Crackle. You can select channel sources for the Live Channels app; I have Pluto channels and my OTA channels in the same guide which is very convenient.

On the negative side, it still lacks support for Netflix, Amazon, Direct TV Now and Philo. You can sideload Netflix and Amazon and get them working, but I'm waiting on the official apps.

Dolby Digital 5.1 now passes through for OTA channels (another fix in the last two weeks). Streaming from Plex plays my DVD ripped content in MKV files without transcoding as is required on my Roku. I don't have BD rips to test them, but perhaps someone else will chime in on them.

I have been surprised by the response of Google's product manager and Channel Master in addressing some of the issues. Nick Chalko, the PM, invited many of us to a beta group to provide information and beta test the releases. He and his team have been very responsive, which gives me hope for the continued development of this product.

Setup is dead simple. You attach coax from your antenna, plug in a USB hard drive (or a microSD card), and turn it on. You are walked through adding Live Channels support, and setting up the DVR functions.

1gb ram is puke . how much the retail cost is because of the integral tuners? because take those out the picture and i wouldn't pay more than 50 bucks for this. IMO, much better off getting a network tuner and better STB's (which could share the tuner resources) even if it costs you a little more. that said, there is a dearth of consumer middle ground options for ATV.
