Google Assistant/Search breaking in-app search

My Sony Android TV upgraded itself last week, and since then I can't properly search within apps.

Clicking the mic button on my remote when I'm within an app pulls up a Google Assistant/Search bar at the bottom instead of the search page of that app.

Manually going into the search page for that app sometimes won't let me voice search, instead I hear the voice search 'ping' 2 or 3 times.

Is there anything I can do to get back to how it used to be?

Try tapping the mic button instead of holding it down.

Your In App Search is not broken rather Google Assistant will now do all the In App Search.

In most Android TV app the "In App Search" is done by the Google App. Because the updated Google app replaced 'Google Now Voice Search' with 'Google Assistant Voice Search' so you are now see the new improved interface.

Just say what you want search to the Google Assistant with in the app and it will search the app to find it.
