Sony XBR-930 + Google Assistant?

by garhent

I got my TV set up but when I do a "Google play stranger things on Netflix" Google Home it says "Ok playing stranger things on Netflix", but then comes back and states that "Sorry Can't play Netflix on Android TV."

Other than using Alexa to turn the TV OFF/ON, is there any other way to use your voice for searching channels to play, its part of the reason why I bought the 930E in the first place.

I'm entirely confused as to what you're referring to... are you sending voice commands via:

  • Google Home
  • your remote (i.e. voice search on your TV)
  • an Amazon product (i.e. Alexa voice search)

Your Sony TV has its own version of Google Assistant, though it doesn't have a passive mic like the other two. If you send that voice command via your remote, it'll load Netflix.

The Netflix app on Android TV has not been updated to accept commands from Google home. I know it is confusing because everything works with a Chromecast. Honestly android TV has been a big let down for me on the sony tvs.
