android tv apps from different regions on same device?

by TOMillr

I'm about to get a new Sony Bravia which will be the first time with with android tv.

I'm curious how android tv deals with app from different countries/regions. Can you just use your regular Google Play account and download apps from out of market apps like, say, the BBC iPlayer? And use them alongside apps from the US like Hulu?

Are there dedicated android tv apps - or do apps you've already downloaded on your android phone also automatically show up in your library on the tv?

Sadly there is not a BBC iPlayer for Android TV. You can side load the standard version but navigation in it is awful.

I live in Malaysia. On my Nexus player I use - American apps: Hulu, Showtime Anytime, Starz, HBO Go, ABC, Fox Now, FX now, NBC, CBS All Access, ESPN, Fox Sports Go, Crackle, BBC America, Food Network, HGTV, Travel Channel, Disney XD, Comedy Central, Freeform, Cooking Channel, BET, MTV, Sling TV, WWE Network, UFC, CNNgo, CBS News, CBS Sports, Fox News, Nickoledean, CW (Sideloaded FireTV app), NBA, MLB at Bat

UK apps: Tvplayer, Sky News, BBC iPlayer (Sideloaded it, it isn't native, and you need to sideload BBC media player as well)

Swiss apps: Zattoo

Indian apps: Hotstar, SonyLiv, JioCinema

Australian apps: 7 Live, Tenplay

French apps: myCanal

Malaysian apps: iflix, YuppTV

South East Asian: Hooq

You can't just download these apps from your respective play store. You need to have skills to have that. I could do the works for you, but I charge plenty.

Also you need to have valid USA subscriptions (e.g directv premier or DirecTV now, Hulu, Sling TV) to get most of the above. Check http://www.izzudrecoba.com

For Indian apps my sister stays in Mumbai so I get premium subscription for free.

For myCanal... A friend shared a username which has been working for years. All content on that app has a choice for English content to play in English.

Zattoo and Tvplayer are free apps. But have paid subs as well. Lots of freeview content.

Australian apps are freeview as well.
