Has anyone sideload the direct tv app to android Tv? I'm thinking of buying an android tv box for my living room since there is a lack of apps for my apple tv. I have a firestick but it's so slow it can't handle my emby app when browsing.

The Fire TV Directv App works on Android TV. Look at my post history for the APK.
I am a pro at this.
I downloaded the computer software Andy for mac but any android emulator for the computer would work. I set up my play account and download Direct TV for tablets.
then extract and send to the shield. They seem to kick off the app whenever there is an update so it's in your best interest to do it yourself.
also, there is no controller support so you will need an air mouse for interaction.
