Unbearable lag and slow GUI

by personalityson

Does it apply to all android TVs or is it just me?

Switching between home and TV channels takes 10 seconds. TV Guide takes half a minute to load. Even stuff like pressing the volume button -- the volume bar appears after 3-4 seconds...

I currently don't have any regular TV channels -- I'm only using the apps. Occasionally when I turn it on, Google streaming ads hijacks my TV and I end up pressing Home button for a minute or two trying to escape it...

I know the cache and factory reset tricks, but seriously this does not belong in a TV, and is not something you want to be doing in the long term.

Just in general deeply unsatisfying experience

it's a common bravia issue

somewhere on this sub are instructions how to make it faster.

Check if u have USB memory and you have apps on it. Try removing it..

Shield TV is very quick and Mi Box is a close second. Can't say the same unfortunately that have Android TV their processors are just too slow to handle it. Roku TV is a good example of a fast/smooth built in UI.

Response is fast in my Channel Master Stream+. What device are you using?

I wouldn't touch that with a ten foot pole. I tell people all the time, if you want a good tv, get one that you like the picture of and never touch the smart bs. If you want a good Android TV experience, get a good Android TV box. The interface is never the tv manufactures priority. The $2000 LG TV we bought in 2010 (a smart TV) hasn't had a software upgrade since. 2010. The tv is still awesome, and for $79 mi box we have the experience on it we want, and if they never update the mi box, it's $79, not 2 Grand.
