ABOX A1 Max Stuck at logo screen indefinitely

Hey everyone. I'm extremely new to the Android TV space and I'm at a loss here.

Everything was working fine until I installed an app to hide my root and it requested a reboot. Now it won't go past the logo screen. I can get it into recovery mode, so I'm hoping it's still salvageable.

Here's all the info I could find on it:

On the box:

  • Model: A1 Max
  • CPU: Amlogic Quad-core Cortex-A53
  • GPU: Quad-core Mali-450 GPU
  • RAM: 2GB
  • ROM: 16GB

From recovery mode:

  • Amlogic/A95X_R2/A95X_R2
  • 7.1.2/ABOX-I-MAX/20171211

My first go at it was to try a factory reset, but it didn't do anything. My next idea was to reinstall the firmware, but I've looked up and down for a firmware download for this particular box and I haven't been able to find anything.

Is anyone able to help me? If you require more information, I will get it for you.

I am pretty much in the same boat. I have been tinkering for a while... I have found a compatible firmware, but it is a bit laggy! All I have found is that the IR remote wont work... but they are crap anyway. Flash it with Amlogic USB Burning Tool (v2.0.8) - it starts up in Chinese, but click around the menus for English. Hope this helps.
