I have this problem and I'm fairly sure Nvidia is aware of the problem. There are definitely reddit subs and the nvidia forum with this topic.
Try different hdmi port and cable?
I have a similar problem, but I believe it's my soundbar that's causing the issue. I'll pause a show or switch apps and will have no sound. Performing a factory reset of my Vizio soundbar is the only way to get it working again. You don't happen to have a Vizio soundbar, do you?
