Network speed meter display on Android TV

by anth

I can't find find any apps compatible with Android TV that have an overlay showing KB/s.

Example of an overlay (in this case, Network Monitor Mini) Screenshot: https://lh3.ggpht.com/6cy8IVJQTTkz1zPL3C7w3hue8dX9A1V0IOSBiNbXeoCwTvsbyP148EHYW0hiAnx7jw=w1920-h974-rw

On my previous android box (not Android TV), I had an app for this and it was extremely helpful in knowing whether or not my selected stream was streaming at a good speed. For instance, now when I watch showbox, I can't tell if the app is hanging or if the file just needs more time to buffer. If the overlay showed 0 kbps (versus 200 KBps) I would know.

Any ideas?

I know it's built into netflix. Shows up when you hit display on the remote.

Is there even a need for this anymore? My Asus router has an app that lets me view bandwidth per device.

Interface stats are easily accessible on Android programatically. If there isn't an app you want, it would probably be easy to make one. As for the overlay, I don't think it's possible without root. The openvpn app has a nice example of displaying tun0 stats.

I sold my Xiaomi Box because of quirks like this. I have a Android box now to cater to my emulation cravings. Netflix I get natively from my TV's who (still, thankfully) support it. Would you mind telling me the app or widget that does this?

nvm: its in the screen shots heh.

edit2: its bought man, its bought. 1fity to the developer.

edit3: Have you tried sideloading the app to test it out on your Android TV?
