Fix for Refresh Rate Switching? (Nvidia Shield)

by pcserenity

Tons of posts on this, but none I could find with a solution. Some apps appear to have fixed this, but not all of them -- especially not Netflix. I'm wondering if anyone has found a decent workaround so that I can easily watch content on almost any app and not have it suffer from horrid judder. I'd love to have it just switch automatically like I have on other devices (TiVo, Roku) as everything else about the Shield is superior.

Thanks....

There is an app called TVHz (if I'm remembering correctly) that lets you manually set refresh rates. You may need to be rooted so it might not be much use sorry. You can also set the refresh rate manually in display settings in the filters section.

As far as I know, Kodi is the only app on the shield TV that can dynamically switch frame rate.

The Shield has OS auto refresh rate switching capabilities. It's up to the Android TV Apps developers to code their Apps to support such functionality.

Apple TV 4K is the sure fire answer - $105 with a Direc.tv deal for those living in the USA.
