Unable to Watch Netflix on Shield TV?

by Theboyscampus

Okay a follow up to this https://www.reddit.com/r/AndroidTV/comments/8ksfqc/looking_to_buy_a_nvidia_shield_tv_but_not_in_the/?st=JHJ9JXCJ&sh=0bca68a9

I finally pulled the trigger and got it today, fore up netflix to see my favorite shows on the big screen and Some tittles didnt load, some did but only sound works, black screen with text says HCDP and a link says nvda.co/hcdp.

I have tried all the steps in the link except for buying a new HDMI cable as it was late. Any ideas how to fix this?

If you've confirmed that your TV's HDMI input supports HDCP, then you're gonna need to try a new cable.

Its to the best of my knowledge a handshake issue with the Shield and TV. I have a 4 month old 4K tv that I get this error at times. Its resolved by changing inputs away from the Shield to something else and then back. Maybe try setting the screen resolution manually to 720p or 1080p to see if that does anything.

The entire chain of devices from Shield to screen needs to be HDCP (2.2? have to check that) compatible and proper HDMI 2.0 cables (my Dollarstore specials didn't work). I also had an older receiver that only supported HDCP on the Blu-ray HDMI-input, which was a PITA to keep switching over.

OMG, sounds like the blind leading the blind!!!!!

OP, run drminfo app on Shield while connecting to all hdmi ports on your TV.
