Is MX10 better than Nvidia Shield in terms of gaming?

by EdibleMuffin

I want to buy an android box for hardcore gaming meaning I will be playing games 24/7 cause some games have inbuilt bot features so I leave it on all day. It must have a good fan and play games smooth.

Now I heard Nvidia Shield is the best when it comes to gaming but it's a bit pricey but I discovered another box called MX10 and it has 4GB RAM but I'm not sure if the GPU is better than Nvidia Shield. Could anyone tell me is MX10 faster than Nvidia Shield in terms of gaming? also please recommend any other android box for gaming 24/7

Bare in mind the MX10 is an Android box, not an Android TV box. In other words apps will properly disable the TV UI on the shield, while on the MX10 it may display the phone UI instead. You'll also be missing some features, such as Google cast.

In terms of specs, the MX10 is no where close to the Shield. It may have more RAM but both the CPU and GPU is considerably lower (quad core A53 cores vs quad core A57 cores, low end Mali-450MP2 vs Maxwell). If anything the MX10 seems to be mostly aimed at decent 4K playback, while the Shield takes it ahead with more grunt for gaming.

Unless they're using a Snapdragon 800 64-bit SoC, you're going to struggle to find something that comes even close to the Tegra X1 in the Shield.

The MX10 will be worse than the Shield in every way (Including value for money), it's not official Android TV, and will also not support most of the Gaming features you get on the Shield.

Why in the world would you EVER think a shitty non-official Android TV box would ever be better than a Shield (of all official boxes...)?

If your looking to stream PC games, Shield is probably your best bet. If your looking for gaming, skip anything Android (or mobile) and get a gaming PC or buy a real console (PS4 or XBone) for about the same price.

One word No...

In other words, if you try to avoid the price of the Shield, forget it if you want to stick with Android, there is no other decent option. The rest is just unsupported cheaply made chinese junk boxes. Now that Steam Link runs on that thing, it even has become better for gaming.

None of the Rockchips or AMlogic chips come close to touching the Nvidia Shield. You can look up benchmarks and see for yourself. I own a $50 T95Z and I'm quite happy with the performance. I flashed atvXperience on my box and it looks just like the Nvidia Shield when it boots. Kodi runs smooth as butter and I'm using Moonlight to stream games from my PC to my Android TV box and I haven't had any issues with Moonlight.

I very much doubt so. Shield is way powerful than any android box out there BUT if your main purpose if gaming then why not get an Xbox one S instead!
