Suggest a USB3 Gigabit Ethernet dongle for Bravia-x900e AndroidTV?

by TsukikoChan

Hi all, I'm hoping someone can suggest a working ethernet (gigabit) usb dongle that works on androidtv, in particular a sony bravia x900e running latest androidtv (7?).

Main reason is for good streaming for SteamLink app and 4k (bravia x900e has a pitiful 100mb port on it ;_; ).

100Mbps should be enough the steam link itself is only 100Mbps and so should most 4K content.

Are you actually having problems or just want higher connection?

Fun fact my x85c hasn't had internet for months now and no random reboots!

You should be able to stream 4K even on 50 mbps speed but if you still want improved speed then you may TRY (i'm not sure it'd work) this UGREEN USB 3.0 Ethernet+USB combo . This works with MiBox as expected so it may also work with your Sony TV.

I think it won't make a difference. Has anyone tested this on an Nvidia Shield since it has Gigabit ethernet?

When I noticed that my Philips TV was limited to 100mbps, I did a test with my more than capable mobile on Wifi AC right next to the router, and the Steam link connection estimate never went above 100mbps.

On both devices, with full quality settings, the network speed test it does is at 30mbps, so I suspect the app never goes above this bandwidth.

I stand to be corrected. What are other's experiences? Especially on the Shield?
