Has anyone tried to get a steam controller to work with shield tv? Wondering if its possible and how so.

People have posted here that it works
Yep frankly Steam Link app is my #1 favorite thing about Android TV now
I'm curious, do you have to have a PC to use a steam controller on Android TV? I ask because I have an Nvidia shield and steam just announced a bunch of games for it. I bought a controller but can get it to pair.
In contrast to what the others are saying, it depends on what you mean by work. Once the firmware is updated to support Bluetooth (or presumably the dongle plugged directly in) it'll work within the Link app for in home streaming, but outside of that will be limited to lizard mode same as if you didn't have Steam running on a computer.
Steam brought out a Steam Link app for Android TV, which natively supports the Steam Controller. You’ll just need to install the latest beta firmware on the controller so you can put it in Bluetooth mode.
