Raspberry pi 3

by TheCrowGrandfather

Anyone get Android TV to successfully run on a pi 3? I got the OS running but it couldn't download anything. I did a Wireshark capture of the traffic and it seems to be going to the right place (74.125.225.72), but nothing downloads.

Has anyone had success?

A basic port of Android TV OS should work, I think. However, the Pi won't have DRM access for things like 1080 Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, etc.. Plus, Android in general still has some bugs on the Pi. It's probably not a stable experience right now.

Unfortunately there is no officially supported version of Android for the Raspberry Pi. It's a shame.

Here is a sticky on the official pi forums confirming as much:

With the Pi you're better off installing OpenElec and the kodi addons that you need, Android is probably too heavy at this point

There is also an x86 version available:

Problem is, Netflix still doesnt work for it. I was hoping to use one of the old spare laptops i have sitting in a closet as a quick and easy alternative to a Fire Stick or Mi Box, but alas I dont see it changing soon. :-(

Yes it supposedly runs well but haven't tried it. I've only used RetroPie on Raspberry Pi 3. However, no DRM content works like Netflix, YouTube, etc. You can download Tab-Pi here:
