The web version of the Play Store shows it as unavailable, but if I browse to the app directly from the Shield it shows up and installs fine.
Finally bought it, and wow, it's really really bad! :(
Refunded, and started developing my own project. If I manage to find the time to make it actually work, I'll publish it.
The app is supported on Shield TV according to Google ( https://imgur.com/a/8N8mPj4 )... and because of this we are not sure why it is showing as incompatible for some users! Another site has recommended clearing the Play Store cache and data. Hopefully that resolves the issue!
Thanks.
It's not bad. I do have some issues with it but overall it's pretty cool. This should be something that is built into Oreo though!
Couple things I didn't like:
No app names under the tile icons.
I added individual games to the "Games" channel and although you can tell which game it is based on the tile icon, having the app name under the tile would be nice (every other channel tile has this).
Icons/banner tiles are kind of big when you hover over them.
I'd like to be able to shrink the tiles so that they are identical to the size of the tiles in the "apps" row.
One more thing that was kind of annoying was creating tiles for individual apps.
By default there's no icon given to the tile. So for each and every single app you have to go in and add one.
I think it would make more sense that if a user creates a tile with a single app added, then the tile icon used is automatically taken from that app's embedded icon/banner.
That way you're not sitting there going through each and every one and manually adding the banner/icon to it. It's really tedious.
Anyway, in the end I got it set up how I wanted:
Have the Shield with Oreo and it says no eligible devices.
Guess I'll have to go buy more google play credits...
If it does what it says, it'll certainly be worth the price, when Oreo enters stable branch and my shield starts nagging me to upgrade.
Thanks for the link, added to wishlist, are you the/a developer on the project?
Edit: love the fact that it seems you can mix native ATV with sideloads, this will simplify life to me.
Edit2: still don't understand why Google hadn't built something like this into the base package of Oreo long long ago... but I'm willing to pay,,, and yea, I guess Google will earn 30% of that price... money talks?
Need Oreo for this :P cmon update!
