Cannot get 10-bit output from Shield TV to Sony TV

by sk9592

Hi, perhaps someone has a suggestion for why this is the case.

When I connect my Shield TV to a Vizio M series 2017, I am able to do 3840x2160 59.9Hz YUV 420 10-bit Rec. 2020 without an issue.

That is the output I want so that I can watch HDR movies without an issue and play 60Hz games without having to manually switch between HDMI modes manually each time.

However, recently I moved the Shield TV to Sony XBR75X850E, and it does not allow me to select this mode. These are the color space options that show up for 3840x2160 HDMI modes: https://i.imgur.com/4C03RGb.jpg

As you can see they are all 8-bit and 12-bit modes.

I want 10-bit. 12-bit is useless to me because I don't have any 12-bit content, and 12-bit does not allow for more than 30Hz on HDMI 2.0.

What am I missed? Why can't I get 10-bit Rec 2020?

Have you enabled HDMI Enhanced mode on the port you have it connected to on the Sony TV?

Wow, you posted this on every subreddit you could think of and everyone gave you the same reply. Did you fix it?
