Asking Google Assistant to send voice-as-text to AndroidTV

by hydraSlav

Is there no API in AndroidTV that can receive text input from something like an oral command to Google Assistant?

I can use Google Home to ask by voice my AndroidTV to play YouTube or Netflix. However I often have a need to type text on my Chromecast (be it a browser address, or custom app, or anything).

It would be great if I could say "Ok Google, send "blah blah text" to TV, and it just typed that into whatever field had the focus.

I've never encountered this. If you're casting video, you just use the app on your phone to do stuff. The Android TV device doesn't need to accept text input; you do that on your phone. Same thing with casting your screen or a webpage: do it on your phone and the casted content will match.

So why do you really need to be sending text to your TV? Are you really just asking how to use your phone as a keyboard for input? Cuz the other guy answered that question and got downvoted.

I don't have a Home device, but what response does GA on the Home give when you tell it to "search for [insert topic] videos" instead of "play [insert topic] video" as a command?
