I've been experiencing some blurry images while streaming video apps on my Shield TV. I want to start my investigation by checking the speed I'm getting through my ethernet connection.
I have my box connected directly to the modem with a cable and I'm supposed to be getting 300/mb speeds but it seems like I'm not getting what I'm paying for.
If someone could recommend a good speed test app I would appreciate it!

I've been having the same issue recently but with my Android TV built into my Sony. Is YouTube TV you're having issues with?
You can check it in the Netflix app. Settings -> Get Help -> Check Your Network
No apps I know of. I install chrome and use test sites like testmy.net and dslreports.com. If I try to use speedtest.net it'll tell me to install the app. But, the google play store tells me the app isn't compatible for the Shield TV.
If you have kodi you could try the arnu speed test addon.
You can side load the fast.com app. It doesn't give the highest results, but it tests as soon as you open it withiut a keyboard or mouse.

I side-loaded the latest speedtest app and use mouse toggle app in my MiBox.
You can always use a browser (puffin is my fav on tv) and use html 5 based speed test websites if you don't have mouse toggle app.

My service provider says the speed test apps don't give out good tests results. At first thought she didn't know what the hell she was talking about. Compare to apps and webpage speed test. Was a significant difference in results. Tried at other people's house and same result.
Just curious why is this?
