How to install Official Google Play Store for Android TV on a generic android box?

by jvrang

My chinese android box came with a non-tv-friendly google play store. Its like the app store on a phone.

You do not have AndroidTV.

You have a android tablet with an HDMI out slot. You cannot get the android TV store, as you do not have an android tv box. You have a cheap chinese tablet disguised as a tv device.

If it is like a tablet , you might be able to install required google frameworks (apks) to it . I converted amazon fire to android tablet last week by installing Google Account Manager , Google Services Framework , Google Play Services , Google Play Store . You can get them from here make sure you get the ones matching your system. If you don't know your system check it with CPU-Z or any device information app you can install without google play

Find out what Chipset it is running and then head over to the Freaktab website to flash custom (Android TV) ROM's:

I haven't find a way to do it but you can use Apptoid TV Store App if you want, there is TV app and normal app on it.
