Cordcutters.com - What to do when your smart TV goes dumb- Fixing a LeEco Android TV that fails constantly

This is why I chose a SHIELD TV and a "dumb" TV. The TV was free (hand-me-down from my parents when they upgraded), 40", and has multiple HDMi inputs. And my 2015 SHIELD TV is still getting updates and is way easier to replace down the line.

Neat read. especially for any LeEco owners hear who may one day face the OS force closes & loops the writer had. He couldn't even change sources.

TLDR - Force reset the device, then skip setup & do NOT connect it to internet. Then you can change sources again & run other devices via HDMI

good thinking on making it dumber. However I do believe in this specific case, it is most likely a software error which happened a lot on any android devices after certain amount of use. It should be fixed easily by manually flash the latest US firmware.

Source: I have the same TV still working including Netflix HDR till yesterday.

BTW although the support of this TV is dead in US, the same model is still sold in China Russian and India and the community support is very strong. Since the company has release the source code, a custom firmware is under development on 4pda.ru .

All those words for something that said "I was experiencing problems so I hard reset it and used another device"

I bought this TV for my Mom. She loves it and constantly thanks me for buying it for her. She hasn't experienced any issues that I know of. Bought 55" $350 on sale at Walmart.
