O initial thought: No YouTube TV Channel?

by mikeydangerous

WTF? Literally the only app channel I really cared about was YouTube TV and Google doesn't have it ready?

Isn't YouTube TV only available in like 20 cities in the US?

I'm genuinely asking, I'm not from the US.

If that's true, I kind of understand their lack of rushing to make developments for every platform for a service that only covers probably less than a million people on the entire planet.

This was the first thing I noticed as well... Google's own product seemed to have been ignored. YouTube TV and Plex are my two primary Android TV apps and neither get the new features. Sadly, I have a sneaking suspicion that the Plex team will get theirs done first.

Google is notorious for slow and poor app development.

OT, sorry....

MiBox Oreo final update for MDZ-16-AB does have the Youtube TV app available from Playstore.

Installed successfully but does not integrate with Live Channels.

Please bear in mind this Oreo is not released to mass distribution.

Yea it is ridiculous. Google releases some amazing hardware and software, but really makes you scratch your head sometimes.

Live Channels has support and even starts playing when you hover over a channel. YouTube TV is relatively new, not available everywhere. When Nvidia releases Oreo to the public a much larger audience will have the new launcher so support is probably coming soon.

Yes, very sad. I've been upset about this for months...make zero since, you'd figure it'd be the first Channels compatible app that existed, yet Google has nothing for Channels.

nebhead

Oh, I'm definitely not upgrading to O if this isn't supported. :(

nebhead

Oh wait, so the app is still there but just not in the home screen? The way I read this was that the app want supported at all. If the app is there, them I have no reservations at all.
