Think Netflix 720p is possible with L1. You can mirror stuff from Chrome, but you cant use the cast function with other apps.
In other words, this is not a good alternative. I bought a 3 GB s912 box with 32 GB to «stream» 4k torrents. Problem was that if the filesize was 20 GB you needed it all to «stream» the movie. Now something called Elementum is out for Kodi. It actually streams, so I think 8 GB storage and 2 GB ram would be enough to watch 15-25 GB 2160p MKVs.
With that said I would go with Mi Box/Shield.
